  • Medium loans, $2,001 to $5,000: $400 establishment fee + 47.6% p.a. (comparison rate 69.04% p.a.)
  • Large loans, $5,001 to $10,000: no establishment fee, 45% p.a. (comparison rate 45% p.a.)

Victorian Support Worth Checking First

The cheapest loan is the one you don't need. Victoria has some genuinely useful help:

  • Utility Relief Grant Scheme. If a temporary crisis has left you behind on your electricity, gas or water bill, a Utility Relief Grant can pay up to $650 per utility type over two years, or up to $1,300 if your home runs on electricity only. You'll need a concession card, or be on a low income, and be at risk of disconnection. Call your retailer to apply, and they'll pause disconnection while it's assessed. The Concessions Information Line is 1800 658 521.
  • No Interest Loan Scheme. Loans of up to $2,000 for essentials, with no interest or fees, for eligible people. Call 13 64 57.
  • Free financial counselling. The National Debt Helpline (1800 007 007) will connect you with a Victorian financial counsellor.
  • Your consumer rights. Consumer Affairs Victoria (consumer.vic.gov.au) can help with tenancy and consumer issues.

What Melburnians use Jingle for

  • Car repairs: because the Monash doesn't care that your car's making a funny noise.
  • Rent and bond: in Victoria, bonds are lodged with the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA).
  • Winter bills: Melbourne winters can push up heating costs. Check the Utility Relief Grant first, then talk to us if you still need help.
  • Vet, medical and emergency costs: for the bills that can't wait for payday.
